Research collaborations

The Danish Air Ambulance strives to establish collaborations with national and international research groups within relevant research areas. It is expected that collaborations with other institutions will develop concurrently with the implementation of specific projects.

International collaborations

From the beginning of the research organisation, under the auspices of the Danish Air Ambulance, it has been important to enter into international collaborations. At present, the Danish Air Ambulance actively participates in EUPHOREA (European Prehospital Research Alliance), which is a European research collaboration.

Nordic collaborations

In addition, close Nordic cooperation has been established between the HEMS organisations in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. The collaboration goes under the name NoPRA (Nordic Prehospital Research Alliance). The aim is to strengthen research in the pre-hospital area in collaboration between the Nordic services.

Data

Collaboration on data

The Danish Air Ambualnce has its own database on all missions since its beginning in 2014. Data can be provided for research as part of collaboration with the Danish Air Ambulance.

Data can be provided in connection with relevant research projects. When providing data, the Danish Data Protection Agency's (or equivalent local authority's) regulations apply, and there must be a plan for purpose, hypothesis, analysis, and dissemination of results in the form of scientific articles in national or international journals and other forums. All projects where data from the helicopter play a substantial role must have a partner affiliated with the Danish Air Ambulance. In addition, all projects and articles that use data from DAA must point this out in the method section, for example with the text: "Data is collected by the Danish Air Ambulance".

Application for the release of DAA data is sent to secretariat of the Danish Air Ambulance.

Prehospital Patient Journal data

The emergency medical helicopter uses and submits data to the Prehospital Patient Journal (PPJ). A subset of this data is included in the Prehospital database (rkkp.dk) as clinical care pathway data. PPJ data can be obtained for transversal and nationwide quality and research projects.
